Where are the Elijah's of the Lord God?

God designed prophecy to be powerful. Prophecy is to be confirmed by signs and wonders following. I believe it is inherent and incumbent upon today's prophets to get the core concentrated, power filled, anointing soaked prophetic word from the Lord; the word that bears fruit. Jesus said, "By their fruits you will know them." Matt. 7:20.

Part of the fruit of a prophetic word is the power that is conveyed through it. Prophecy is always designed to do something; it is never just revelation. Amos says, "Surely, the Lord God will do nothing but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Amos 3:7.

Notice, the emphasis of genuine prophecy is on the doing, not the knowing. God rarely speaks to us prophetically just to cause us to know more. Teachers teach to cause us to learn. Prophecy is designed to be much more; it is to be inspiration, activation and impartation.

Paul said to the church in Rome, "I long to see you, that I may impart unto some spiritual gift, to the end that you may be established; that is that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me." Rom. 1:11-12. This is what we lack.

Paul imparted to his own son in the faith, Timothy, more than revelation; he imparted gifts to him by prophecy and the laying on of hands. Paul said, "Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery." I Tim. 4:14.

In our zeal for revelation, younger generations have forgotten about the need for impartation. And, this is what the younger generation desperately needs today. We need those fathers in the faith, Elijah's, to impart gifts by prophecy with the laying on of hands. To them I ask this question: Where are the Elijah's of the Lord God? 

I believe that too many Elijah's are wrestling with too many Jezebel's. What should they be doing? Raising up sons, like Elisha. To them I ask this question: can you stop wrestling with Jezebel long enough to raise up some Elisha's? Isn't it time that we remember that there is a coming generation of Joel's? God is calling an emerging prophetic generation to be trained to prophesy truly. 

In 1995, I had a dream one night. In that dream, I knew there was a coming generation of Joel's that were approximately 8 years old. From that dream, I understood that this coming generation of Joel's would be taught falsely not to prophesy to leaders. They would be taught that they shouldn't speak those prophetic words that leaders didn't want to hear. 

I knew that I, like Jeremiah, would speak to them and teach them that true prophets are called to speak prophetic words that leaders may not necessarily like. Emerging prophets need to understand that this is part of the burden of carrying the true prophetic mantle. 

From that dream, I understood that I was called to teach this coming generation of Joel's to speak true prophetic words, even in the face of opposition. Not everyone is happy when they receive a prophetic word. Some people are unhappy with prophetic words. Who? Why? Those who receive prophetic words that expose the condition of their hearts.

Prophecy is always a matter of the heart. Prophecy exposes what is in the heart. Those who receive (act on) prophecies usually have pure hearts. Those who do not receive (do not act on) prophecies often have hearts that are hardened. Prophecy is always a heart issue.

Likewise, prophecy emanates from the hearts of prophets. When a prophet has a pure heart, the prophetic words spoken have power and authority from God. When a prophet's heart is impure, his/her prophecies will usually fall to the ground.

Today, God is calling to an older generation of prophets saying to them, Where are the Elijah's of the Lord God? To them, I write. To the younger generation of prophets that are seeking the Elijah's of the Lord God, I prophesy, they are coming. Be patient.

To all, remember prophecy is powerful; it activates, inspires and imparts. Genuine prophecy is powerful. Let's hunger and thirst for this kind of prophecy, and let's lay aside any supposed prophecies that do not contain a dose of this kind of power. Amen.
